The saliva RT-PCR test is, like the conventional RT-PCR test, a molecular test that amplifies the genetic material (RNA) of the SARS-Cov-2 virus, thus being a test of sensitivity and specificity.
It differes from the conventional way of sample collection, where a funnel is used to collect the saliva replacing the swab method.
