WHY INVEST IN BIOSURFIT?
Biosurfit has developed spinit® , a point of care testing technology that uses a single drop of blood to perform multi-parameter quantitative blood test analysis in less than 15 minutes.
THE MARKET
The worldwide In Vitro Diagnostics market is valued at € 25 billion (2007) with point of care testing contributing to over 30% of this. Excluding Blood glucose analysis, mostly performed in OTC, it is a potential market in excess of € 20 billion.
There has been a worldwide tendency to decentralize part of the blood analysis currently performed in central labs to near the patient setting in order to maximize efficiency and decrease length of stay in the ER, ICU and Physician offices as well as improving quality of life of patients
The rising prevalence of chronic disorders like diabetes and heart disease as well as the pressures to decrease healthcare expenditures in the world are leveraging emphasis on the advantages of the point of care testing.
This mass market opportunity is only available for products meeting the requirements of accuracy and speed of test results at an acceptable cost.
RECENT ACHIEVEMENTS
Biosurfit made significant progress in the year of 2010. In the first half it gained ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 13485:2004 certification by the notified body TUV Reinhland and demonstrated the ability to provide medical devices and related services that consistently meet customer and regulatory requirements.
In the 2nd half of the year it submitted the technical documentation to the national authority of medicine and health products - INFARMED – for CE marking of the spinit system. This enables market entry in early 2011.
TECHNOLOGICAL AND PRODUCTION HIGHLIGHTS
No other platform in the market can perform multi-parameter quantitative blood test analysis in less than 15 minutes integrating the detection of viral infections, infectious diseases, cardiac markers and blood chemistries.
Biosurfit's microfluidic R&D has resulted in several patented technologies enabling complex fluid management in a compact disc format. These technologies were combined with standard compact disc production techniques from our industrial partners to develop the spinit® cartridge, a disposable self-contained cartridge for the spinit® reader.
