Mr. Roberto Branco Lic. (Electrical Engineering) and MBA (Universidade Nova de Lisboa), joined the Board in 2006. He has wide experience in different management positions (e.g. Renault, Soja) and board memberships (e.g. Soja de Portugal e Agência para a Inovação). He is currently active as president of Beta Sociedade de Risco (venture capital).

Nuno drives daily operations at
biosurfit and sets up the pace. With the COO role since mid-2007, he
also makes sure that everything fits together in the final product. On
top of that, Nuno leads the cartridge team, makes new inventions and
coordinates the development. He is the author or co-author of five
patents and patent applications. Nuno is actively involved with
Biosurfit collaborating partners (R&D, industrial, centralized
diagnostic companies). Previously, he founded Frontwave (.pt) and
focused on product development. Nuno holds a PhD in Material Science
from Univ. of Oxford, postdoc at the Univ. of Manchester and a degree

Daniel is leading the Marketing
& Sales at biosurfit, since September 2009. He has strong
experience in management, with key senior positions in different
startup and large and mid-size companies both in Portugal and Brazil.
He worked several years for Logica where we defined and implemented
consistent organizational, financial, sales and human resources
processes in order to leverage efficiency within the organization.
Daniel holds an International MBA from IE Business School (Dean’s
class) where he founded “Forward IE”, and Science degree in Applied
Mathematics from University of Lisbon. He is also certified Project

Maria João leads the team of hard
working engineers that develop the Biological Recognition aspects of
biosurfit products. Her analytical and methodical approach to
challenges yield results. She keeps people focused and motivated. She
keeps the balance. Maria João is in charge of all the activities
related to the biological part of biosurfit products, from R&D,
production and QCM. She holds strong experience in the areas of
biomarkers and protein development. Maria João holds a PhD degree in
Biotechnology and a Masters degree in Biotechnology Engineering from

Claudia joined biosurfit in mid-2009
and accelerated the business development. She is in charge of the CE
marking process and ISO 9001, ISO13485 certification, leveraging on
know-how of top consulting partners. Her eight years of experience in
the biopharmaceutical industry added significant value to the company.
Claudia also brings more efficiency and is helping biosurfit to become
an organizational success. Prior to joining the company, she was part
of the clinical research team at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in New York.
Claudia holds a Master degree in Biology and completed an MBA in

Sandro leads the team of talented
engineers that develop the instrumentation side of biosurfit products.
His technical skills and know-how yield results. He keeps people
focused and coordinates things smoothly. And the results are easily
seen. Sandro has strong experience in physics, optics, Surface Plasmon
Resonance and instrumentation. Prior to biosurfit, he worked with João
since 2004 in biophysics R&D projects and also in electronic
interface development for Nuclear Physics instrumentation. Sandro holds

Management Advisers
Although not working at biosurfit on a daily basis, Ana strongly contributes in defining and implementing the business development strategy. She also brings her strong views and experience on Human Resources and career development and has the key on recruitment. Ana is currently the Director at Portugal Telecom (MC $9.47B) in charge of Human Resources and Career Development. Previously she was Business Development Director at PT and Associate at Mckinsey (expertise in new ventures, banking, telecom). Luis helps define our Sales &
Marketing strategy and implementation plans. He keeps us focused on
making a product that has what the client wants and needs. While not
working at biosurfit on a daily basis, he also contributes to the
business and financial planning. Luis is currently the Chief Marketing
Officer of Zon Multimedia (MC $1.34B). Previously he was Marketing
Manager at PT, Associate Principal at Mckinsey (expertise in banking,
energy, industry, consumer goods) and Senior Analyst at Procter &
Gamble . He holds an MBA from Alpine University-Austria, a Management
qualification from Trondheim Univ.-Norway and a degree in Physics

Maria João leads the team of hard

Vanessa also develops Biological
Recognition layers to be integrated into disposable cartridges of
biosurfit products. Since early 2007 she is mostly focused in antibody
manipulation and optimization. Being hard-working, systematic and
analytical, she adds value to the team and is well regarded and
respected. Prior to biosurfit she was principal researcher at the
Portuguese Oncology Institute - Francisco Gentil and studied disease
related gene mutations. Vanessa holds a Biochemistry degree from

Cristina develops Biological
Recognition layers to be integrated into disposable cartridges of
biosurfit products. Since mid 2007, she has focused in immobilization
protocols of antibodies and DNA that suit cartridge requirements.
Development is focused in stability, reproducibility, sensitivity and
specificity. She thinks, contributes to planning and executes. She
delivers results and keeps her joy. Prior to biosurfit, she worked at
Infarmed (Health Regulatory agency) in developing new processes for
microbiology control of medicines. She holds a degree in Biological

Since joining biosurfit in mid 2009,
Joana has been working in developing and optimizing the production
process of the spinIT cartridge. She works on optimizing the biological
component of the first cartridge and also on DNA detection layers for
the next cartridges in the product pipeline. Joana is systematic,
bright and hard-working. Joana holds a Masters degree in Biological

Cartridge Team
Ricardo shows talent and hard work in cartridge development and engineering, since joining biosufit in late 2008. He has been focused in R&D for the blood count cartridge, managing and working in the hemospin project at the Biomedical Diagnostics Institute. Ricardo has strong experience in immunoassay development, nanotechnology and physics. Ricardo holds a PhD in Nanotechnology & Biotechnology from Technical University of Lisbon and INESC-MN.

Tania is excelling in developing cartridge modules, from design, prototyping to final validation. Since late 2008, she adds to the company a strong know-how and experience, namely in the fields of biotechnology, microbiology and molecular biology.
Prior to biosurfit, she worked in different R&D fields and projects, always with a strong experimental contribution leveraged by her deep fundamental scientific background. Tania holds a Science Degree in Microbial Biology and Genetics from the University of Lisbon.(X) CLOSE
Henrique is developing novel microfluidic functionalities within the cartridge team since he join the company in late 2009. His motivation and systematization is leveraging the team capacity to develop innovative solutions. Henrique holds a master degree in biomedical engineering from Unvesidade Nova de Lisboa.

Ana holds a Biomedical Sciences degree from the university of Beira Interior and is working on her thesis to finish the master degree of Biomedical science.

Sandro leads the team of talented engineers that develop the instrumentation side of biosurfit products. His technical skills and know-how yield results. João Manso designs, develops and
improves the mechanical and hardware modules and final products at
biosurfit. His contributions and drive are almost matched by his great
humor. Manso is in the company since early 2007, keeps on improving and
wants to excel. He masters design, modeling and prototyping of hardware
modules. Prior to biosurfit, he was an industrial engineer at TECNIA,
working in new cleantech solutions. João Manso holds a degree in

Pedro leverages his knowledge and
background in physics and optics to develop and improve detection
modules of Biosurfit products. His expertise in Surface Plasmon
Resonance signal treatment is highly valued. Pedro is in the company
from the start, keeps on delivering solutions and improving. Pedro
masters sof tware programming, optoelect ronics and bui lding
instrumentation. Prior to biosurfit, he worked in integrating C
programming with SPR signal acquisition. Pedro holds a degree in

José develops the software
components of biosurfit products, since early 2006. His work is
appreciated by everyone. Apart from software, his contributions in
design are always significant. Prior to biosurfit, he was a researcher
at the DiaINP group (IT Labs) where he worked with wireless mesh
networks. José holds a Masters Degree in Software Engineering from
University of Lisbon, having focused in computer architectures and

Tiago brought to the company new
skills in instrumentation, prototyping, automation and pilot line.
Since mid 2008, he is bringing new solutions, new ideas and new
deliverables in the cartridge and instrumentation teams. Prior to
biosurfit, he worked as a lab and automation engineer at Malardalens
University - Sweden and was a research assistant at the biosensors lab
in ITQB. Tiago holds a Masters in Electronics with Biomedical Profile
from Malardalens University and a Bachelors degree in Electronics from
